How does HomeStore work?

We deliver a flat packed storage unit to your property, we will then assemble it in a suitable location and leave it there for you to store your belongings in for as long as you need. When you have finished storing your belongings, we will disassemble and collect the empty storage unit.

How do the charges work?

The storage units are charged on a weekly basis and billed every four weeks.

There is a charge to install and de-install the storage units with discounts available for long term hire

Mileage is included up to 20 miles from the nearest base, mileage is charged at £2.00+VAT per mile outside 20 miles

What are the payment terms?

Upon booking we require payment for the installation and initial four weeks hire.

We accept payment via Direct Debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Electron, Switch, and Delta cards. If you are hiring for an extended period then we prefer payment to be set up via Direct Debit

Hire invoices will be automatically sent out and the transaction processed every 4 weeks.

Note that after the initial 4 weeks minimum period, we charge the hire at weekly intervals so you will be credited any over payment when you book your storage unit deinstallation.

Is there a minimum or maximum length for storage?

At Door to Store, the minimum length for storage unit hire is 4 weeks. After this period, the charging intervals change to weekly. Please note that billing occurs every 4 weeks.

There is no maximum length for storage, and we offer discounts and incentives for long term storage of 6 months and above.

Where can the storage unit go?

If you are storing the unit at your home then ideally the rear garden, patio or driveway, but primarily somewhere with hard, semi-level ground. We can set the units up on uneven ground, but that would need to be agreed with us prior to the installation of your unit as additional materials may be needed to level your unit out.

How big are the units and what do they weigh?

Our storage units come in a range of different sizes from 2×2 meter upwards and weight approx. 250kg per 2 meters squared when fully constructed.

Is the unit weatherproof?

Yes, our units are wind and waterproof

Can I build the storage unit myself and save on the set up fee?

Sorry but we can only allow our own trained technicians to move the panels and build the units.

What happens if I run out of space in my current unit?

Our storage units are modular, so if you find that the unit you have ordered has filled up quicker than you thought, then we can just add an extension to it.

What areas do you cover?

We are in the process of rolling out into different areas around the UK but currently we primarily cover London, Sussex, Surrey,  Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. However, if you’re outside our catchment area, you can give us a call, and we’ll see if we can fix something up for you.

Can I cancel my unit delivery?

Yes, you can.

If you need to cancel an existing booking at any time, kindly call us on 0800 043 9302 or email office@doortostore.co.uk. Note that there is no charge to cancel the reservation, AS LONG AS it is more than 7 days before the hire is schedule to commence. Cancellations within 7 day of the scheduled time incur a charge equivalent to the full-service installation charge.

How much notice do you need?

We work on a strict first come first serve basis and can work with as little as 24 hours notice; however, this is subject to availability.

Certain times of the year are busier than others, so we advise you book with as much notice as possible. This applies to both installations and de-installations.

If you wish to have your storage unit de-installed and collected, we require not less than 7 days notice.

Is there anything I can't store in the unit?

Yes, there is.

For us to give you the best customer satisfaction, we don’t allow the storage of the following;

Combustible, Flammable, Hazardous and/or Toxic Materials

These materials are considered inherently dangerous and may pose a threat to your storage units and the property around it. These materials include, but not limited to gasoline, compressed gas, propane tanks, kerosene, lamp, and motor oil, acid, grease, corrosives, fertilizers, paint, cleaners, chemicals, narcotics, or hazardous, toxic or biological waste. We also don’t allow firearms, ammunition, fireworks, asbestos and/or asbestos-containing products, and any form of explosives.

Perishable foods and animal products

We allow the storage of canned foods, however, we don’t allow the storage of perishable food products like pet food, meats, and other products that are likely to spoil and attract pests.

Stolen Items/Illegal Goods

We take this very seriously. If you don’t legally own the property, you can’t legally store it.

Live Plants

The climate inside a storage unit is not suitable for live plants, and we abstain from storing them. Storing live plants will lead to the death of the plants and attraction of insects and vermin.

Medical/Pharmaceutical Equipment

Though we accept some medical supplies and equipment, radioactive equipment and/or any radioactive containing material cannot be legally stored in our units.
