HOW DOES MOBILESTORE WORK?

We deliver the storage pod loaded into one of our specialised trailers directly to your home or business. We then leave the trailer with you so you can load your possessions into it yourself, or we can provide two professionals to load it for you.

When the pod is loaded, we will return and transport the storage pod to one of our secure storage facilities where your sealed pod will be kept inside a temperature and humidity controlled environment.

If you need more than one pod, we have specialised trailers that can hold up to two pods at a time, or we can deliver another empty pod when we collect the loaded pod

 

Our storage pods are 35 ft2 and prices start from £20.00 per week.

MOBILESTORE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does MobileStore self-storage work?

Our MobileStore self-storage process is simple. We deliver one of our unique, specialised trailers to your home or business premises with a storage pod/s loaded into it. You load up the pod/s yourself, or we can assist you with that. When the loading has finished, we will take back the storage pod/s, containing your property, to our secure storage facility. At the facility, the storage pod/s will be transferred to the warehouse for storage, until you want your property back. When you want the property back, we will bring the storage pod/s back to your doorstep for you to unload.

Do I have to load the storage pod myself?

This depends on what you prefer. You can either load the storage unit yourself, or our professionally trained loading experts will assist you with that. We provide both storage loading and unloading services, so you wouldn’t have to stress yourself much with the physical side.

How big are your storage pods?

Our storage pods are 35 ft2, dimensions are approximately 7ft high, 7ft deep and 5ft wide and hold a volume of around 250 cubic feet.

Is there a minimum or maximum length for storage?

The minimum length for storage is 4 weeks. After this period, the charging intervals change to weekly. Please note that billing occurs every 4 weeks. Also, note that you’re free to have your storage pod back and/or access it within the initial 4 weeks.

There is no maximum length for storage, and we offer discounts and incentives for long term storage of 6 months and above.

Can I have access to my property while in your facility?

Yes, you can.

However, you have to notify us at least 48 business hours before time, so we can get your storage pod/s ready for your visit. Alternatively, we can redeliver your pod/s back to your residence or business premises in one of our specialised trailers, for you to access your goods, and we’ll take it back when you’re done. This, however, attracts a small service fee.

You can access your unit from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays are available, but only on prior arrangement.

How secure are my possessions in your store?

Our storage facilities are alarmed, monitored by 24/7 CCTV, and closed to the public; only authorised personnel are allowed inside.

When we pick up the items you are storing, they are placed into a storage pod. These are wooden containers that are closed at your property, with a tamper proof, numbered security seal added for extra piece of mind. The security seal will not be removed until the pod has been re delivered back to you.

Is insurance required?

Yes, it’s required.

We require both business and personal customers to hold insurance in case something happens to your belongings while in storage (though this is rare). You can either use your insurance supplier or purchase the insurance from us.

The insurance covers you for fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, storm, flood, escape of water from any apparatus, theft by violent or forceful means, subsidence, riot and civil commotion, malicious damage, impact by vehicles, aircraft or aerial device, vermin damage, and collapse or partial collapse of the building. Customers are advised, however, that this does not cover damage to any of your effects due to the manner which they are loaded. The storage units will be subject to a small amount of movement and should be loaded in a manner so as to prevent damage.

We include insurance cover up to £500.00 for free, if you require more cover, we can arrange this for you.

Our storage insurance starts at £1.50 per week per £1000 of cover.

For instance, if the replacement value of your goods is £3,000, then the insurance will cost you £4.50 per week.

Can I cancel my storage pod delivery?

Yes, you can.

If you need to cancel an existing booking at any time, kindly call us on 0800 043 9302 or email office@doortostore.co.uk. Note that there is no charge to cancel the reservation, AS LONG AS it is more than 48 business hours before the bookings schedule time. Cancellations within 48 business hours of the scheduled time incur an administration charge of £75.00 payable to Door To Store.

What areas do your self-storage services cover?

Our service area primarily covers London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. However, if you’re just outside our service area, you can give us a call, and we’ll see if we can fix something up for you.

Do you work at weekends?

Yes, we do.

We’re open for deliveries between 9am-3pm on Saturdays and are available, by prior arrangement, on Sundays and Bank holidays.

Kindly note that weekend bookings are popular, so we advise that you book as far in advance as possible, at no additional fees.

Do you redeliver back to my home?

Yes, we do.

If you wish, we will deliver your storage pod/s back to your home or business in one of our specialised trailers. We can also deliver to any address, as requested by you, as long as the address is within our coverage areas or agreed to prior to booking. Additional charges will apply.

What are the Payment Terms?

We accept payment via Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Electron, Switch, and Delta cards.

We will provide your first invoice and take payment upon collection of your goods for storage unless booking through our website. This is usually done using the details provided to us upon booking or on-site using a mobile chip and pin card machine. Clients payment details are saved on our secure processing system for future seamless transactions. Storage invoices will be automatically sent out and the transaction processed every 4 weeks.

Note that after the initial 4 weeks minimum period, we charge the storage fee at weekly intervals. You will be refunded any over payment when you book your storage pod/s out of the store.

How long is the MobileStore storage pod left with me to load my posessions?

We typically leave our pod/s with you for 2-3 hours for you to load or unload. If you wish to load in the evening, we can leave the trailer and pod with you overnight, and collect it in the morning, but secure parking is a strict requirement. Our trailers come loaded with hitch and wheel locks, but it’s very much at the owner’s risk as our insurance doesn’t cover it.

If you wish to keep the storage pod longer than 2-3 hours, kindly inform us when booking. Depending on availability, arrangements can be made to cover these situations.

Where do you park the trailer containing the storage pod?

We expect you to provide us with adequate parking.

Typically, we park on your driveway, however, if this is not possible, kindly reserve space in the street nearest to your property. We advise you to inform your neighbours that you will need access to the area. Also, note that our trailers will require a few car lengths of manoeuvring space; you can block the space with your car or waste bins, if necessary.

If you live in an area with residents only bays or metered parking, you will have to contact your local council for a “parking exemption” or pay the meter charges yourself.

The cost of any ticket we get as a result of illegal parking will be passed to you if you don’t provide adequate parking space.

How much notice do you need?

We work on a strict first come first serve basis, and we can work with as little as 24 hours notice; however, this is subject to availability.

Certain times of the year are busier than others, so we advise you book with as much notice as possible. This applies to both collections and re deliveries.

If you wish to have your storage pod/s redelivered to you, we require not less than 7 days notice.

Is there a weight limit?

Each storage unit has a standard weight limit of 800kgs.

If you wish for your storage unit to take more than 800kgs, we will need to agree to this before you store the unit.

Note that if you’re only storing heavy items like books/records/paperwork etc., you will not be able to load the unit full as it will likely be overweight. Kindly notify us if you think there may be weight issues.

What time will my storage pod/s arrive?

We will agree on the arrival details at the time of booking.

However, sometimes, unforeseen circumstances like heavy traffic, etc. can delay our drivers. If this were to happen we would notify you. For a better service delivery, we advise you don’t arrange your storage pod delivery for the same day as the completion of your house sale.

Will the storage pod/s be exposed to any weather?

Absolutely not as we keep our storage pods inside a temperature-controlled warehouse at all times.

I have a heavy item I may need help with, can your driver assist with that?

Our delivery drivers are not permitted to assist customers with loading or unloading of storage pods. If you require assistance with loading or unloading, please inquire about our loading service.

Can I purchase boxes and packing materials from you?

Yes, you can.

We provide a broad range of packing materials such as boxes, tapes, covers etc. which can be delivered with your storage unit or before. Kindly check our Packaging page for more information.

Is there anything I can’t store in my storage pod/s?

Yes, there is.

For us to give you the best customer satisfaction, we don’t allow the storage of the following;

Combustible, Flammable, Hazardous and/or Toxic Materials

These materials are considered inherently dangerous and may pose a threat to your storage pod/s and that of others. These materials include, but not limited to gasoline, compressed gas, propane tanks, kerosene, lamp, and motor oil, acid, grease, corrosives, fertilizers, paint, cleaners, chemicals, narcotics, or hazardous, toxic or biological waste. We also don’t allow firearms, ammunition, fireworks, asbestos and/or asbestos-containing products, and any form of explosives.

Perishable foods and animal products

We allow the storage of canned foods, however, we don’t allow the storage of perishable food products like pet food, meats, and other products that are likely to spoil and attract pests.

Stolen Items/Illegal Goods

We take this very seriously. If you don’t legally own a property, you can’t legally store it.

Live Plants

The climate inside a storage pod is not suitable for live plants, and we abstain from storing them. Storing live plants will lead to the death of the plants and attraction of insects and vermin.

Tyres

We don’t allow the storage of more than four tyres in our storage unit, as the cost of disposing of tyres is high.

Medical/Pharmaceutical Equipment

Though we accept some medical supplies and equipment, radioactive equipment and/or any radioactive containing material cannot be legally stored in our facility.
