Founded to make storage simpler
Door To Store was founded in 2016 by Adam Oakley, a local family man with a background in domestic removals. Through working closely with homeowners, movers, and contractors, Adam identified a clear gap in the market — the need for straightforward, affordable, and flexible storage that works on-site, not just in remote warehouse facilities.
Too often, traditional self-storage required unnecessary journeys, hired vehicles, and rigid contracts. Door To Store was created to offer a smarter alternative, storage units delivered and assembled where they’re actually needed.
Practical storage built around real projects
From short-term storage during renovations or insurance claims to longer-term solutions for construction and commercial projects, Door To Store was designed to be practical, reliable, and easy to use.
Our service allows customers to keep their belongings securely stored on their own property or site, with flexible hire periods and straightforward pricing. This approach has made Door To Store a trusted partner for homeowners, tradespeople, and businesses who need storage that fits around real-world work.
A trusted, hands-on storage specialist
Nearly a decade on, Door To Store has built a strong reputation within the local construction and contracting community for its no-nonsense approach and customer-first ethos.
Adam remains actively involved in the business, ensuring every project benefits from the same standards of reliability, flexibility, and attention to detail that the company was founded on. That hands-on approach helps ensure Door To Store continues to deliver storage solutions that keep projects moving smoothly and within budget.

What Our Customers Say About Door To Store
Frequently asked questions
How does Door To Store work?
Door To Store delivers a storage unit to the customer’s property or site and assembles it on site in the agreed location. The unit stays in place for as long as needed, and once it is empty, Door To Store returns to dismantle and collect it.
Where can a Door To Store storage unit be placed?
Door To Store storage units can be installed on driveways, patios, rear gardens, commercial premises and other suitable on-site locations. A firm, semi-level surface is preferred, but uneven ground may still be possible if agreed before installation.
Do Door To Store units need planning permission?
In most cases, no. Door To Store units are temporary, non-fixed and removed when no longer needed, so planning permission is not usually required. If the unit is staying in place long term or the site is in a conservation area or at a listed property, it is best to check with the local planning authority.
How much does storage unit hire cost?
Door To Store charges storage unit hire weekly, with billing issued every four weeks. There is also a charge for delivery, assembly, collection and dismantling, and longer-term discounts may be available. Prices start from £35.00+VAT per week
What is the minimum hire period?
The minimum hire period is four weeks. After that, hire can continue for as long as required until the unit is no longer needed and collection is arranged.
Are Door To Store storage units secure and weatherproof?
Door To Store storage units are designed to be secure and weatherproof, helping to protect stored items from normal outdoor conditions. For moisture-sensitive items such as sofas, mattresses or fabrics, added condensation protection may also be recommended.
